Laura A. Miles
Ms. Miles' practice includes general civil litigation and public entity law with emphasis in the areas of contractual disputes, construction claims, and public entity defense. Ms. Miles has extensive background in law and motion, as well as writs and appeals.
In the contract and construction areas, Ms. Miles represents owners, construction managers, contractors and subcontractors in matters including mechanics' liens, breach of contract actions, and delay and disruption claims. Ms. Miles also defends clients in construction defect actions and cross-claims for work product issues. Ms. Miles is experienced in insurance coverage and indemnity issues closely affecting the construction industry.
In the area of general liability, Ms. Miles handles complex litigation involving wrongful death, business torts, fraud, landowner liability, negligent supervision and/or entrustment, slander and defamation torts, premises liability, as well as auto accident and product liability cases.
In the area of public entity defense, Ms. Miles represents governmental entities in actions brought under the Government Claims Act and has represented such clients in matters involving dangerous conditions, recreation facilities, roadway design, vehicular accidents on public premises, personal injury and wrongful death. Ms. Miles also represents public entities against property claims such as inverse condemnation, subsidence, nuisance, and trespass.
Ms. Miles has concluded many disputes and litigated matters with successful outcomes on behalf of her clients.
